Dr. Spokane is Board Certified!

The American Board of Orthodontics is pleased to announce that Dr. David C. Spokane D.M.D., M.S. was certified as a Diplomate, during the February, 2005 Phase III Clinical Examination. The American Board of Orthodontists is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Only one out of every five orthodontists in the USA and Canada are board certified. Certification is ruled as follows:

Phase 1: Dentists who have completed an advanced education program in orthodontics approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA are eligible to apply for certification.

Phase 2: A written examination carefully and accurately measures the knowledge base of the candidate.

Phase 3: A clinical examination helps the board determine the candidate's knowledge of clinical orthodontics, and provides a basis to assess the quality of the candidate's clinical treatment results.

Letters to Dr. Spokane

Dear Dave,
Congratulations on your recent certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is truly a significant accomplishment and reflects your high standards and excellence in the facial orthopedic and orthodontic care of your patients. On several occasions I have spoken with my colleagues about what an excellent job you do in leading the Western Pennsylvania Society of Orthodontists. I hope that you will continue to contribute and be involved in these endeavors. I am pleased that we have the opportunity to collaborate and help care for mutual patients.

Dear Dave,
Congratulations! I know what a tremendous accomplishment this is for you to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. It takes a lot of time, work, and commitment to obtain that status, but I know of no other person who is more deserving of it. Because of your work ethic and commitment to the highest standards of care, your patients have benefited for these many years. Congratulations once again, and best success and best wishes in your career.
