At Karski & Spokane Orthodontics, we believe orthodontics can be life-changing. If you know a child in Seneca Valley School District or Mars Area School District between the ages of 7-17 that is the target of bullying due to their teeth, you can nominate them to receive free orthodontic treatment at our office.
How To Nominate:
Send an email to antibullyingnominations@gmail.com with the following information:
- Name
- Age
- School District
- Legal guardian's contact information (Name, phone/email)
Please provide any additional details about the bullying and/or the dental problem, if possible.
Nominees will be contacted and asked to come in for a free evaluation, including x-rays and photos.
Emails will be accepted from October 1, 2023 through March 1, 2024. The winner will be contacted by our office by April 1, 2024.

Bullying Due To Teeth Teeth Are a Target
Dental issues can really dent our confidence, right? And for kids, especially those with super noticeable issues like “buck teeth" and overbites, it's even harder. Did you know that studies have found that kids with obvious dental problems are like bully magnets? It's heartbreaking.
Any kid can get picked on, but those with misaligned, discolored, or super crooked teeth get an extra dose of mean. Here are some typical bully moves these kids face:
- Getting teased
- Name-calling (like "vampire" - seriously?)
- Getting left out during playtime or recess
- Gossip about their looks or their teeth
- Some even face actual pushing and shoving
This constant harassment can have profound and long-lasting effects on the child, including:
- Low self-esteem
- Self-isolation
- Depression and anxiety
- Poor academic performance
