Camouflage Your Orthodontia with
Clear Braces

Clear braces can address several forms of misalignment without impacting your appearance like traditional metal braces. These ceramic brackets are designed to blend seamlessly with your smile, so you can feel confident throughout treatment. Clear braces are ideal for patients who often take part in public events or those with certain metal allergies. Dr. David C. Spokane and Dr. Melissa Karski are proud to provide Beaver Falls, PA, and the surrounding counties of Beaver, Butler and Lawrence, with the highest quality of care. We understand the importance of a healthy, beautiful smile and can walk you through every stage of your orthodontic treatment.

Ideal Candidates for Treatment

Ceramic braces are best for patients who have a case of malocclusion that cannot be sufficiently addressed with Invisalign®, but would like a more discreet solution than traditional metal braces. It is important to note that ceramic braces are not as durable as metal braces, and ceramic brackets are larger than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, we typically only use ceramic braces on the upper front teeth. We also recommend that our more active patients consider metal braces to avoid chipping or breaking the ceramic brackets.

Ceramic braces can address:

  • An overbite
  • An underbite
  • A crossbite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Overlapping teeth

Ceramic braces can also offer an effective solution to patients with a nickel allergy or a sensitivity to certain metals. Patients who have a pre-existing medical condition that requires periodic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans may also be better suited to ceramic braces.

Understanding the Treatment Process

Ceramic braces are best for patients whose concerns cannot be addressed with Invisalign, but want a more discreet solution than traditional metal braces.

During your consultation, we can evaluate your orthodontic needs and take the time to review each of your treatment options. After assessing your lifestyle and goals, we can recommend the best option. In many cases, we are able to place upper braces on the same day as your initial visit.

The treatment process is similar to that of traditional braces. We may take a panoramic x-ray of your smile, which will be used to design your individualized treatment plan. We can then bond the ceramic brackets onto the front surface of your teeth and thread the archwire through each bracket. Every four to eight weeks, you will return to our office to have your wires tightened. This process gradually shifts your teeth into their proper alignment.

Benefits of Clear Braces

Clear braces can improve the form and function of your smile without severely impacting your appearance or self-confidence. In addition, proper dental alignment is better for your oral health. Teeth that are overlapping, overcrowded, or generally misaligned are harder to clean. As a result, these teeth tend to harbor bacteria as well as develop more plaque and tartar. Addressing misalignment can reduce your risk of decay and gum disease by enabling you to maintain better oral hygiene. It can also reduce your likelihood of developing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, which can result in headaches, neck and back pain, and jaw pain.
