Pennsylvania's Medical Assistance (MA) program provides dental services based on your eligibility category, age, and medical need. MA covers all "medically necessary" dental services for enrolled children. This includes orthodontics up to age 21.

Insurance companies each have their own specific requirements and checklists orthodontists must complete to submit a patient's request for orthodontic approval. You are either approved or denied based on medical need. If you are approved, there is no cost to you at all.

The first step in the approval process is PHOTOS.

Take The Photos

You will take 6 easy photos using the Sample Photo Gallery below as your guide and then text them directly to the office.

The doctor will be evaluating issues such as bite, cosmetic symmetry, and a variety of issues that can be easily assessed with a proper photo.

*Make sure your back teeth are TOUCHING in their natural position (where you bite when you smile)!

Using these photos as your guide, take six quick photos.

* In the first four photos, try to make sure your back teeth are TOUCHING in their natural position (where you bite when you smile)!

* The last two photos present the entire arch from a totally different perspective where we examine each arch.

These six photos give the doctor views of your teeth from right and left sides, the upper and lower arch, show how your bite fits together, and more!
